Declare your pregnancy (déclaration de grossesse)
This is the one that starts everything else. Your doctor or midwife normally declares the pregnancy online to the Assurance Maladie and the CAF, so in most cases you do nothing — but check it has been done; if they use the paper form instead, the three-part “Premier examen médical prénatal” is yours to send on. What else to know
Declare before the end of your third month of pregnancy: that is the official phrase (avant la fin du 3e mois), and it is what opens your maternity cover and your CAF entitlements, including the birth grant. The paper form puts the same deadline as the first 14 weeks, counted from your last period, which is about 2 weeks different from “14 weeks pregnant” as an English speaker reads it — go by the third month.
