For an eligible person the public route is heavily subsidised but no longer nominal: under the fees reform an acute hospital ward bed is HK$300 a day from 1 January 2026. Checked against ha.org.hk on 22 September 2026.

For a non-eligible person the public obstetric package is a minimum of HK$74,000 if you made a confirmed delivery booking and had your antenatal checks with the hospital, and HK$130,000 if you did not. Paperbump estimates, not published figures: private hospitals sell delivery packages from around HK$20,000 for two nights, the doctor's and anaesthetist's fees come on top, and a realistic total for a normal delivery in a semi-private room is around HK$100,000, more for a caesarean — no official page carries any of those three numbers, so treat them as an order of magnitude and get your own quote. Read your employer's medical plan before choosing: many cap maternity at a figure that covers the public route and not the private one, and stand-alone maternity cover has waiting periods that rule out a pregnancy already under way.
