Book your first antenatal visit with the Hospital Authority
The antenatal service is moving from the Maternal and Child Health Centres to the Hospital Authority in two phases, not all at once. Phase one started on 6 July 2026 and moved 15 MCHCs into nine public hospitals; phase two follows in 2027. Checked against info.gov.hk on 22 September 2026.

From 6 July 2026 every new case — the first antenatal visit — is booked with an HA obstetrics department: use the BookHA function in the HA Go app, or apply in person at the hospital. If you already have an MCHC appointment booked for July or later, keep it — the staff there will explain what happens next. Fees, service arrangements and who the service is for are unchanged. Go with a positive test and, if you have one, a private doctor's letter confirming the pregnancy. What you pay turns on your Hong Kong ID card: with one you are an eligible person and pay the ordinary public fees; without one you are a non-eligible person and the public route costs more than most private packages. Anyone aged 11 or over who is permitted to stay more than 180 days must register for the card within 30 days of arriving, so most residents hold one — but if you have just landed, or your application is still processing, book nothing until you can show it.
