Book your first antenatal visit with the Hospital Authority

Since 6 July 2026 the first antenatal visit in the public system is booked with a Hospital Authority obstetrics department rather than at a Maternal and Child Health Centre: use the BookHA function in the HA Go app, or apply in person at the hospital. Go with a positive test and, if you have one, a private doctor's letter confirming the pregnancy. Checked against info.gov.hk on 21 September 2026.

What else to know

What you pay turns on your Hong Kong ID card: with one you are an eligible person and pay the ordinary public fees; without one you are a non-eligible person and the public route costs more than most private packages. Anyone here on a visa of more than 180 days must register for the card within 30 days of arriving, so most residents hold one — but if you have just landed, or your application is still processing, book nothing until you can show it. Book early either way, because public hospitals cap their obstetric bookings.
