Get the baby a passport, then a dependant visa
A baby born here to two parents who are neither Chinese nationals nor permanent residents has no right of abode. The child gets a permit to remain at birth registration and then needs, in order, a passport from your own country's consulate and an application to the Immigration Department for residence as your dependant. What else to know
Immigration wants the birth certificate, Form ID 235B, the baby's passport, your marriage certificate and your own passport and visa. Ask your consulate before the birth how long a first passport takes, because that is the slow step, and lodge the dependant application as soon as it arrives.
