Check the CAF knows the baby has arrived
The CAF asks you to declare the birth yourself, and promptly: that is what opens your entitlements — the PAJE basic allowance, the childcare supplement, family allowances. Do it from your CAF account rather than assuming the mairie has passed it on. Checked against caf.fr on 22 September 2026.

What else to know
If you already made the prime à la naissance request during the pregnancy, that account is the one to use; if you did not, you create it now. Every payment that follows is dated from when the CAF has the information rather than from the birth, so a fortnight's delay is a fortnight's money.
