3 days of birth leave from the employer, then 25 calendar days of paternity leave — 28 in all for a single birth, and more for multiples. The remaining 21 days are yours to take or not, and can be split into at most two periods of at least 5 days each. On the 6 months: service-public says the 25 days are to be taken within the 6 months following the birth, while ameli is reported to say the balance need only begin inside that window. Plan on the tighter reading and finish inside 6 months.
