Baby Bonus and the Child Development Account, if the baby is a citizen

What else to know
Under the Baby Bonus Scheme as it stands, a first or second child draws a S$11,000 Baby Bonus Cash Gift and a Child Development Account opened with a S$5,000 First Step Grant; a third or later child draws S$13,000 and a S$10,000 First Step Grant. The scheme is ending: the SG Child Support Package announced at the 2026 National Day Rally replaces the Baby Bonus Scheme and the Large Families Scheme, with payouts starting April 2027. Under the Package a citizen child born on or after 1 April 2027 gets a S$10,000 Baby Gift in 2 tranches within 12 months of the birth, S$2,000 a year in Child Credits from age 1 to 16, the S$5,000 CDA First Step Grant with government co-matching capped at S$5,000, and a one-off S$10,000 top-up into a Post-Secondary Education Account at 17. Children already on Baby Bonus transfer automatically from April 2027: existing cash-gift payments run to 31 March 2027 and are then topped up by 30 April 2027 to bring the total to S$10,000 where that applies.
