Claim help with childcare costs (CMG)
The complément de libre choix du mode de garde is the CAF's contribution to what childcare costs you, whether that is an assistante maternelle, a micro-crèche or care at home. Checked against service-public.gouv.fr on 22 September 2026.

What else to know
What you get depends on your monthly household income, the number of dependent children, the type of care and — since the September 2025 reform — the hourly cost of the care and how many hours a month you use. For direct employment the CAF states there is no longer a ceiling on the CMG, and the old 15% minimum family contribution has gone, so a single “up to” figure no longer means anything for that route. Use the official simulator for your own number. It cannot be claimed in advance: the request goes in once the baby is born and the care has actually begun.
